Student athletes work hard in Stowe Vermont to keep competing.  Stowe Vermont is no different than a plethora of towns across the nation, its various entities facing budget cuts in the wake of a shaky economy.  One of the toughest budgets for Stowe to balance has been its school budget and along the way certain items have been cut.  The cuts to sports teams have been tough, yet students have pulled together to support their passions.

Student athletes in Stowe, including runners and skiers, have worked extra hard to raise money to fund their teams which were cut from the school budget.  The alpine ski team needs to raise over $11,000 by the end of October in order to compete this coming ski season.  How are Stowe students raising funds?  They are looking for sponsorships from Stowe community members, selling goods like chocolate, services like chopping wood, and holding raffles. 

While the negative impact of having their teams cut from the budget is tough, it is not holding back the passion to compete, and these students are working hard to make sure that they can continue to partake in the sports they are interested in.  In a sense the Stowe students are building a stronger community spirit within their perspective sports by coming together to make it happen.
