It’s not too late to enjoy the Winter Carnival in Stowe Vermont. An annual event the Winter Carnival brings out everything we love about Stowe in the winter and so much more. From phenomenal ice carvings and sporting events to wonderful food and lively music, Stowe is alive at the moment, celebrating our favorite time of year! The celebration started on January 16th but is going on through the 29th, with many fun activities and events left to enjoy.

The first winter carnival was held in Stowe Vermont in 1921 but it became a strong annual tradition in Stowe in 1974, becoming a favorite winter tradition. This is a fabulous opportunity to get to know Stowe, by participating or simply enjoying the entertainment at hand.

This week you can enjoy a Warren Miller film in Stowe, always a treat for skiers. In addition there are great spectator sports for everyone to enjoy, from a Super-G on Thursday to Snow Volleyball on Friday, and certainly, if you are dying to participate there is always a way. The final parties of the carnival will take place at the Rusty Nail and the Matterhorn on Saturday, offering a great deal of fun for everyone! It’s a great time to be skiing in Stowe Vermont. The flakes are falling and we have received over a foot of snow in the past three days, which has created great ski conditions. Stowe is offering fantastic conditions, with freshly groomed corduroy for those who are still learning to ski the powder and prefer a manicured slope.

Stowe Vermont could benefit from a visa program known as the EB-5 Regional Center Program.  The program draws wealthy foreign investment with the possibility of a permanent green card if all goes as planned.  The program is working well in Jay Peak, and thoughts are that it could work well in Stowe as well.  The program raises capital, creates jobs, and helps stimulate local economies, something Stowe could use as well as the US economy as a whole.

What is the EB-5 Regional Center Program?  Wealthy foreigners who desire to live in the US can invest $500,000 (or more) in Stowe if a designated investment area is approved, in return if at least 10 jobs have been created and sustained after a two year period the investors obtain a permanent green card for themselves and their spouse and children.  Stowe Vermont is considered an area which could reap rewards from the EB-5 program as great success has been seen in another Vermont ski resort, Jay Peak.

The EB-5 Regional Center program has proven to work quite well in resort areas around the country, offering an alternative to borrowing from traditional banks.  Ideally the program is a win-win economic scenario for all involved.  Should the program take place in Stowe it could bring jobs and development, in turn aiding the growth of the tourism industry and bringing more spending to the Stowe area.

Stowe Vermont is planning to enhance some of its bike trails and in return boost the local economy. A recent grant for the Land Trust is going to allow for upgrades to existing trails as well as some new trails that will make mountain bike enthusiasts in the Stowe area very happy.

The draw of outdoor activities, whether it be skiing in winter or biking in summer, is a huge catalyst for Stowe’s economy. Putting money toward making the best trail system possible is great for business in Stowe Vermont, an area known for its top biking trails.

It is fantastic, effective marketing when people come to Stowe for mountain biking, have a great time and then tell their friends and family how great Stowe trails are. The Vermont Housing and Conservation Board agrees and has presented the Land Trust with a grant to help improve trails, and subsequently bring money to the Stowe area from mountain bike enthusiasts and their counterparts.
